Before you buy an FBA course, you can choose from three different FBA models.

Amazon FBA offers three main models.

Pay particular attention to private labels and wholesaling. These models are scalable and can be automated.

Retail arbitrage works best for those with tight budgets but still want to make quick profits.

FBA Model #1: Retail Arbitrage

What is it all about?

Flipping products and finding clearance sales, rebates, and deals in retail shops. Also, forming relationships to store owners who may be able to offer special deals or products that they are trying to get rid of. These products are available for purchase and can be shipped to the FBA Warehouse.

Why is it great?

There is no initial investment required. Great for people on a budget.

Why is it so hard?

To find new deals takes constant effort. It is not ideal for scaling up and the long term.

FBA Model #2: Private Label

What is it all about?

To create your brand on Amazon, you can use unbranded products from Chinese suppliers. Create a great logo and packaging.

To stand out, some people create bundles of products that are often used together. You can do this by going to the "Frequently bought together” section. Other people will review negative comments about a competitor's listing and try to fix them for their brand.

Why is it great?

Your brand is the best way to control price and margins. You can sell your brand if it is successful.

Why is it so hard?

It's difficult to build a brand from scratch. This brand isn't well-respected, has zero reviews, so you will need to invest in paid ads.

FBA Model #3: Wholesale

What is it all about?

Selling well-known brands via Amazon. Warehouses are needed to sort and repackage the products before you can buy wholesale quantities from larger suppliers.

Why is it great?

It is easier to know if your product will sell because the brand that you are selling already has a lot of people buying it. A brand takes less time and requires less advertising.

Why is it so hard?

Your profit margins are less controlled since they do not belong to your brand. It is important to persevere in your search for suppliers that will allow you to sell their brands.

4 Private Label Courses

You can take unbranded products and create your brand.

Pros

What's Private Labeling good at?

  • Your brand can be sold later by creating your own brand.
  • It is your brand and you have more control. It can't be sold by anyone else, but you can set the price.
  • The brand can be sold on other platforms, or you can wholesale it to other shops.
  • To make a higher profit margin in wholesaling, you don't need to buy another brand.
  • You're also building your fan base and customer base.
  • Private label suppliers can pack and bundle your products to ship to FBA (less hands-free). Wholesaling is when you buy large quantities of products and require a warehouse to repackage the products and then ship them to FBA.
  • Inventory orders have a lower minimum quantity and are therefore less risky than wholesaling. They can usually be purchased between $2K-3K. Wholesaling costs between $5K and $10K.
  • If you have a great product/brand, you can compete with products that are around for a while.

Cons

What's not to love about Private Labeling?

  • It is a lot of work and effort to build a brand that you can market to the public.
  • Marketing (PPC, influencer promotion, etc.) It will be more expensive because the brand is unknown or has no reviews.
  • It is difficult to predict whether a brand will succeed. Wholesale, on the other hand, is easier to predict. Private labeling, however, is a process that requires lots of trial and error.
  • It can be hard to make a new business and make it successful even for experienced veterans.
  • To put everything together, it can take anywhere from 6 months to 1 Year. This is due to the high opportunity cost of a product failure.
  • Many variables can go wrong. These include product quality, branding, marketing copy, and other factors. Wholesaling allows you to leverage what is already working. Another company already spent the $$$ needed to get it all working.

My Conclusion

Building a brand takes time. It can be difficult, even if everything goes smoothly. It can also be dangerous. If you're creative and have great product/brand ideas, it can help increase your chances of success. You must be willing to spend the money and time necessary to build a brand. A new brand with no reviews will not be able to afford high advertising and marketing costs. An unknown brand is not easy to scale up. You need patience and a long-term view. There are many benefits to creating a successful brand than wholesaling. You can also sell your brand equity on other platforms. You may be able sell your plant if it is large enough.

Who is Tim Sanders?

Tim started private label FBA in 2016 to help him build a seven-figure company. He is legit. He is also an active member of his private Facebook group where he offers ongoing support.

What Lessons I learned from this course?

Send gifts to your suppliers

Tim did thorough research on the supplier's business and found that Vince Carter was his favorite basketball player. Then he went to eBay to buy a signed Vince Carter basketball, and he sent it to his supplier. Tim was able to get unbeatable prices for his products and is given priority treatment when inventory issues arise. This is basically building trust and negotiating special treatment with your supplier. This is smart.

Use professional services

Tim is passionate about quality listings and spending more money to hire professionals.

I accept this approach. Great copy, images, and logos can make a huge difference in how customers perceive your product. Amazon FBA is extremely competitive. It is worth spending the extra money to make sure that each variable is correct. Tim has even created his own list with pros that he uses in his business.

Create your brand outside Amazon

FBA fees can be quite expensive. This is why I thoroughly enjoyed Tim's training session, where he shared strategies to build the brand beyond Amazon. Learn everything you need about building websites, including how to set up email marketing. Search for social media influencers who will pay to promote their pages. There are many cool strategies but most sales seem to come from Amazon. It would be great to rank organically on Google with your store. However, this level of SEO is not covered.

PROS:

  • Tim is an Amazon seller and has 120 private label products.
  • Tim is active in the Facebook group
  • Holistic content (from mindsets and scaling), very specific
  • Updated for the most part for 2021
  • You don't hear about some unique strategies like purchasing suppliers' gifts

CONS:

  • Source for out-of-date products
  • It is sometimes difficult to estimate the cost of starting your private label business
  • There's no comparison between wholesaling & private label
  • Would benefit from additional training in the sale of the brand

2.) Product University & Amazon Navigator by Sophie Howard

Sophie is an Amazon seller and has a 7-figure tea company for her private brand. Sophie Howard is the creator of Blue Sky Amazon’s FBA course and tea brand, "Higher Tea." She has been a success and is now able to combine all her knowledge into the Blue Sky Amazon training programs.

What Lessons I learned from this course?

You must test other products

It is essential that you test different products in order to be successful with Amazon FBA and private labeling. This will allow you to determine which are worthwhile. Sophie tried more than 500 products. It is evident that certain products perform better than others. She was able to test it, and she is a great teacher.

Make Pristing Listings (Tell A Story)

Sophie invites you to tell a story about your brand. Why? Your story will make your prospects and customers feel emotionally connected. If you use this strategy in your business, you will be able to sell your products and get customers to return to you. You have many options to share your story.

Search for products that are hard to copy and compete

Sophie also shares their branding strategy. Finding products that are original and not copied is the goal. A private label business that is highly profitable will be possible if you are able to pull it off. A cash cow that will last many years without worrying about saturation. Sophie shows you how to thoroughly research a product before buying it. This section should be read and implemented in your private label business.

He also participated in the creation and execution of the course. Mike, a veteran in ASM, has had a lot of success with the program and business model.

What Lessons I learned from this course?

Social Media is Your Friend Upon Launch

This may seem obvious but it's a reminder that you need to promote your brand and products as best you can. This includes creating profiles across all major social media platforms Many of the platforms discussed in this course are Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, and Twitter. This will ensure that your company is getting maximum exposure. This can lead to serious profits.

Create a Daily Agenda

Mike discusses the importance of a daily schedule in order to stay on track. Being a business owner can make it easy to get distracted. I found this extremely useful as I could use it to request my VA to take care of minor tasks that I didn't need. I was able to run my business on autopilot thanks to this simple but effective tip.

Pre-Launch Checklist is Important

The organization is everything. If you're a perfectionist, then you will be already a perfectionist. It would be a smart idea to make this change. A prelaunch checklist is a sign you are serious about your success. Have one. You'll feel more confident. Preparation is just the beginning. You must do it correctly.

  • Outdated (hasn’t been updated since 2018).

Course Details

Ryan's course covers everything that you need to know in order to get started with Amazon. Ryan's course was created for people who already sell products on Amazon.

Ryan teaches how to get more FBA traffic via Facebook and more reviews with his SaaS, BoostRooster.

This course is for those who are able to understand the importance of Amazon sellers being transparent about their business.

Although he's not as vulnerable to hackers as Tim Sanders ( Private Label Masters), he shares his successes and the platforms he is most passionate about.

Ryan is an expert at driving traffic from other sources to Amazon, which allows his products to rise to the top.

He also offers FB Ad Training as well as insight into how to work with Instagram Influencers. Influencers can be a powerful tool for anyone selling products. This power is not available to everyone.

It is important to mention the price. The cheapest Amazon FBA course starts at $495.

My Conclusion

Ryan provides excellent advice to those who are in the middle of setting up their Amazon FBA business. This course won't suit him as he doesn't like to spend too much time learning about the basics (product selection, listing creation, etc). While this course isn't the best Amazon FBA course available, it is a good place to start. His brand mindset trainings provide great value. But, the internet is always changing. It's possible that some techniques in this course may soon become obsolete.

5.) Nine University 2.0 by Kale & Taylor

Course Length: 16 hours

Price: $1,997

Rating: 3.0/5

Pros

  • Provides decent FBA foundation
  • Facebook Support Group
  • QuickStart Boot Camp included
  • Bonus Facebook minicourse that shows product launch strategies

Cons

  • Numerous upsells
  • Not much support
  • COVID-19 made this even more difficult by teaching only sourcing from China
  • There are no records that Kale or Taylor ever sold anything

Course Details

In 2017, Kale and Taylor's Nine University 2.0 was launched. It does however have some years. K&T has updated its course and added additional information to certain modules. This includes more research techniques and product selection sections. This is an important point. K&T offers great tips in this course. It may be helpful to get the price per unit and shipping costs from your supplier if you're new to FBA. Keep it in your head if you don't get it. As you continue to learn, it will become clearer.

Warning: Kale can sometimes be too brief with his explanations. Ignoring icons could lead to your listing being removed from Amazon. I appreciate being able weigh the consequences before making a decision.

Kale & Taylor covers a lot of details related to product listing construction. You will also find specific tips for packaging and shipping your product, such as how to tell suppliers were to label your products. This course is for people who need motivation. Kale is an inspiration in every lesson he teaches.

My Conclusion

While the KT Nine University course may be valuable, it is far too expensive. Nine University 2.0 offers several helpful bonuses such as QuickStart Bootcamp and FB Ads Mini-Course. These bonuses help to increase the course's worth. They have completed their course and updated it. It is currently current for 2021.

Wholesale Amazon FBA Courses

Pros

What's Wholesaling good at?

  • Selling products from other companies is easier than creating your own brand
  • A well-known brand can be a great resource to market a brand new
  • You can better predict the scalability and success of your product if you choose the right supplier. This is because people are already searching for the product/brand
  • Amazon is faster than private labeling
  • Private labeling is more difficult and requires less skill than private labeling
  • You will be more successful if you build strong relationships with suppliers (such as private labeling)

Cons

What's not to love about Wholesaling?

  • Private labeling offers lower profit margins
  • It still takes approximately 3-6 months for the supplier to be located, inventory to be ordered, and approval or "ungated"
  • You can't make anything yourself because there is no brand equity
  • A company could get its product listed on Amazon
  • The "Buy Box", a contest that all depends on the price, is very competitive
  • The stock has a lower minimum order quantity than private labels and order is between $5K-10K
  • Manage a warehouse to package, sort, and bundle products for shipment to FBA

My Conclusion

You can only make this model if you have the right supplier. You need to be able to get rejected many times. People who are more system-oriented, process-oriented, and numbers-oriented will have greater success. Private labeling is not as difficult. Although more brands are choosing to FBA themselves, many still prefer having experienced FBA wholesalers do this. Finding suppliers takes determination and grit. However, once you find them it is much easier to scale up your business than with a private label.

I think the best thing about the Wholesale Academy course is its model of pursuing Wholesale products and then reselling these online. No tutorials are available for the popular Jungle Scout or Helium10 that can be found here. Larry is not like other FBA courses which focus only on the Private Label FBA model. He is a Wholesale fan who has made a lot from mastering this model over the past years.

This course goes beyond the typical 5-hour course. This course covers in-depth the Amazon FBA model. Larry, on the other hand, will not leave any stone unturned and unleash some serious knowledge bombs. This course is approximately 40 hours long and contains 50+ videos. It's divided into 8 content modules. Access to the private Facebook Group, live coaching calls and all content. Get process and model models for your business to streamline it.

My Conclusion

This course offers value and content. You'll need to decide whether you prefer the Wholesale model or the traditional Private label. Personally, I prefer to use the Private Label model for my Amazon brand. It worked for me. If you're interested in the Wholesale model, however, I recommend this course.

Who is Marvin Leonard?

Marvin quit his job as a Detective on April 30, 2018, to follow his dream of being a business owner. Now he can create a 6-figure company from wholesale. He is slowly growing his Youtube audience and helping others get started with the wholesale business model. He's also very active in his private Facebook Group.

What Lessons I learned from this course?

Invest in the Essential Tools

As we all know, time is money. Marvin stresses the importance of investing in tools to make wholesaling simpler. Two tools are necessary: AMZ Scout 10 and Helium 10. These tools are very popular as they can be a huge help to your wholesale business. It is a smart idea to purchase them.

Build good relationships with valid suppliers

This is an important part of the job. It's smart to build a relationship with trusted suppliers. It will bring you great benefits over the long term.

  • The Suppliers can offer you priority pricing
  • Suppliers will be more willing to help you with shipping issues, even if they are costly
  • With them, you will be able to make long-term profits and grow

Amazon FBA offers a very competitive model. Always look for ways that you can get an edge on your competition. One way to do this is to build strong relationships with suppliers. Do you want to be happy with your coworkers? You will.

Hire an Assistant

If you're serious about growing your company, you might think about hiring an assistant. Your business is not your responsibility alone. Small tasks that take time. You will not succeed if you do it all yourself. Hiring a competent assistant can be time-consuming, but it will definitely pay off. Marvin will tell you where and how much it costs to hire assistants.

My Conclusion

For most people looking to make money online right now, wholesale FBA seems like a better option. This is especially true if you get the right guidance and take one of these wholesale courses. As time passes, more and more brands will be putting their products on Amazon. If your product is one of those brands your job may become obsolete.

The worst thing is that you can't take your efforts with you, because it wasn't your brand in the first place. Wholesaling has a lot of potentials, according to me. Private labeling can be more difficult and provides more long-term benefits for those who are great at branding/product design and marketing.

Passion is key to a successful product. This is the only way to create real value on the market. Know your customers. Private labeling requires you to be prepared to invest between $15K and $20K, and that you have six months to learn new skills.

Selling Honey on Amazon - My FBA Experience (Wholesale)

I mentioned at the beginning that I have been selling products on Amazon for nearly 4 years. Organic honey was just one.

I used to have a holistic health blog. It focused mainly on natural remedies using herbs. My product idea came from a trip to my local grocery shop after searching the internet.

While picking up fruits, I noticed a sign advertising organic honey. It's local honey and is sticky sweet. I've known for a while about the health benefits of honey and how it can help with allergies.

This is when I got my brilliant idea. You can buy this stuff on Amazon. Private labeling was not something I wanted to do. Instead, I decided to sell the product on Amazon exactly as it is.

The conversation was productive. Everything I needed to know, from the MOQ for the units to the shipping costs to ship it to other countries. I was able to verify that Amazon had hordes upon hordes of hungry customers for this product. I made a list of things I needed before I could expect my first sale.

I felt like a juggler riding on a unicycle on an endless treadmill. I didn't have time to be with my friends, and I couldn’t travel which is what I love.

After 3-4 months of product launches and inventory management, I was able to get an active listing. I also posted the product to my blog about health. It was a while before I started to see any sales. After a few months, it was getting traction so I decided to make some money with PPC Amazon ads.

Additional $14K available!

My organic honey business was still going strong nine months later. This was partly due to split-testing ads and the fact that April is peak allergy season. I sold more than $52k in 30 days! This seems like an FBA success story, doesn't it?


Let's not forget to look at my profit & cost:

  • Six-packs organic honey bottled at $147.37
  • Each six-pack cost me (including shipping): $43.92
  • Net profit per 6-pack sold: $103.45
  • The net profit from 355 six-packs was $52,316
  • Net Profit before Amazon fees and Ad cost. ($103.45x355) = $35,724

You are so crazy! 36 G's! 36 G's! Wait, Amazon Fees!


We can't forget Amazon fees...

  • Total Amazon fees: $11,328.50
  • Referral fees (18% of overall sales): $9,404.40
  • Fulfillment fees ($5.42/pack, since each pack was just under 3 lbs): $1,924.10
  • Sponsored ad cost: $14,264.37
  • Grand total cost: $25,592.87

I made a net profit of $11,131 after Amazon took over my sales business. While $11,131 may sound like a lot, this was my highest month in 2 years of selling organic honey. It's hard to sell products online.

  • While you can still enjoy high-dollar months, seasonality will eventually bite you.
  • If you have a great product, it is almost certain that someone will copy it.
  • It can be exhausting to keep up with your competitors.

It was because honey products were so popular on Amazon, it became difficult to sell consistent quantities. It was difficult to stay profitable with rising PPC advertising costs.

What I discovered about Amazon FBA after doing it a while?

It doesn’t matter if your business is wholesaling or private labeling. Amazon FBA can be a great place for you to start, even if your product isn't the best. You can also be very competitive with top brands and manufacturers around the world. It's almost as if e-commerce is the Olympic Games. It is important to be easily recognizable, even if your business sells wholesaling. 5 years ago, it was simpler to sell wholesale or privately labeled products because there were fewer real suppliers and manufacturers. It's not that there aren’t any opportunities. You can find niches by doing more research. It might be worthwhile to start a private label company if you have an original product idea.

Why did you quit Amazon FBA? 


Because I wanted to make money online, lead generation was the best option.

My lead generation company generates more than $50K per month. All my leads are generated from SEO or free traffic and not Amazon's ridiculous fees. This passive income is not subject to stock shortages or manufacturing errors.

My website ranks first in Google's "map pack." Leads just start coming in. It is passive income. I don’t have to worry about Amazon’s SEO performance or whether my product has a lot of people.

I rank my site and maintain it with minimal to no maintenance. Amazon FBA can still provide a decent income. It is becoming more difficult. It can be challenging to sell on Amazon FBA because you have to compete with large corporations around the world. Local lead generation means that I have only 10-20 local businesses at any one time.

There are many niches that you can work in: plumbing, landscaping, tree care, and pool cleaning. Roofers, electricians, and HVAC are just a few of the many jobs available.

There are many cities you can choose from... (yes, it is possible to set up a site anywhere in the world. There is less competition to create passive income streams. These are some reasons why I prefer lead generation over Amazon FBA.

Why Lead Generation Over Amazon FBA?

Amazon FBA

  • The Market is saturated - Only 6000 niches are currently available and can compete with global brands and suppliers
  • Starting is costly (about $15,000 would be the ideal)
  • Entry barrier low (Anyone can copy/paste product)
  • Low-profit margins (30%) and rising FBA charges
  • Amazon reserves the right to close your account at any moment
  • No passiveness – There are many moving parts

Lead Generation

  • Each zip code offers a unique opportunity
  • The starter is only a few hundred bucks
  • You need skills to rank on Google
  • Low overhead, high-profit margin
  • You have complete control of the website
  • Passive once ranked - Just deposit money into the mailbox

I suggest that you consider lead generation without traffic.

Conclusion

Which Amazon FBA course is the best? I recommend Private Label Masters by Tim Sanders to anyone interested in private label.

Wholesale Academy by Larry Lubarsky can be a great resource for wholesaling. These courses have great content.

I'm not going to lie, there are niches that work with these methods, but there are also niches that don't. It is worth spending more time researching the niche that you are interested in.

I would recommend wholesaling if you're not sure you have an original product idea. Private labeling can be a great way to build a brand, a new product, or a combination of two existing products.

To win Amazon FBA, you must have a great product. I finally decided I wasn't passionate enough about my honey product in order to stop fighting for FBA.


If you're just looking to make money online, I have a better recommendation.


If you are able to generate leads and traffic, you can sell on Amazon.
